Biography

Niamh Moloney is an external member of the Prudential Regulation Committee.
She is professor of financial markets law at the London School of Economics. She is also a member of the LSE Council (the university's governing body) and served as head of the law school. Niamh specialises in financial regulation and has published widely on the subject.
Niamh was a member of the Central Bank of Ireland Commission (2018 to 2025) and an alternate member of the board of appeal of the European Supervisory Authorities (2018 to 2025). She was the independent chair of the Commission on Taxation and Welfare established by the Irish government to review the taxation and welfare systems, which reported in 2022.
She has an LLB from Trinity College Dublin and an LLM from Harvard Law School. She is a fellow of the British Academy, an honorary member of the Royal Irish Academy and a member of the Academia Europaea. Niamh was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich (ZTH) in 2019.
